Dia de la cruz
Dia de la cruz is celebrated May 3rd in El Salvador. It marks the beginning of the rainy season (winter) and dates back to prehispanic times when offerings were given to give thanks to the earth and what it provides. I just enjoy seeing all of the kinds of fruits that you don't see very often. These pictures are from Concepción de Ataco in the department of Ahuachapan. Yo me acuerdo que antes nos teniamos que percinar (hacer la señal de la cruz en el rostro)y luego agarramos una fruta de la cruz. Cuando mi mama ponia la cruz me acuerdo que yo iba al refrigerador y sacaba una de las gaseosas que estaban para vender, la ponia en la cruz y luego me percinaba y entonces la gaseosa era mia, era otra forma de tomar lo que no era mio por medios poco usuales
